1st Grade: Bodies in Motion
Lillie drew this little girl skating on the sidewalk using a pencil and then outlined it in sharpie. She made sure the arms and legs were bent, giving the skater the look of actually zooming around her neighborhood. She finished off the art piece by coloring the little girl and painting the background and foreground with watercolors.
3rd Grade: Value Skies
Jayci created an interesting night sky using blue, white and black tempera paint. She blended the three colors to create a variety of tints and shades. She finished it by cutting a silhouette of trees and a cute owl using black paper and gluing it to her sky. The effect is mysterious and peaceful.
" This picture is of an owl by a nest and the big owl is holding an American Flag. I like it because it's unique and I made it for my mom because she loves owls." - Jayci, 8 years old

5th Grade: Tree Printmaking
Fifth graders learned a subtractive printmaking technique using styrofoam squares that they carved into using a stylus. Students were instructed to create a tree in the spirit of Gustav Klimnt. Yasmeen used an interesting shape pattern to create her tree. She was able to get a great print quality using red ink.
6th Grade: Koi Fish
Emily created a beautiful koi fish using patterns to create an abstract texture. She watercolored her fish, cut it out and glued it onto a calming sea of blue with stylized currents using chalk pastel.
